Conserving piles at Nuclear Power Plant Doel
Commissioned by Kerncentrale Doel and with Herbosch-Kiere as contractor, K&C Diving realized an extensive coating project at the water intake of the Doel 1 & 2 nuclear power stations. The large tidal activity at this location in the Scheldt meant that this project could not possibly be realized with traditional painting systems and deemed this project as a real challenge.

During the course of 2016, the Kieldrecht lock was put into operation. With a length of 500 metres, a width of 68 metres and depth of 17.8 metres, this is the largest lock in the world today.

Placement of tar mats on the port at the bottom of the dock.
K&C Diving provided diving assistance in the Port of Antwerp for the installation of asphalt matting along the quay walls in the docks and the Schelde Quays. Tar mats of this size are used to prevent that the bottom of the dock is flushed away by the propeller wash from the large ships.

In 2016, the rails and rail connections of the Van Damme lock in Zeebrugge were in need of replacing. These rails, necessary for opening and closing the lock gates, could only be used on one side whilst the other rail had already been removed.

The retirement home Armonea Gravenkasteel in Sint-Amands had to contend with flooding in its cellars. The water damaged the support beams of the buildings. K&C Diving drew up an action plan for protecting the support beams against corrosion and osmosis.
